Independance Day - 4th of July

Here in the United States we have a holiday called Independence Day also known as Fourth of July. It is a holiday celebrating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence which was signed on July 4, 1776. This declaration declared our Independence form Great Britain.

Typical celebration activities include fireworks, parades, barbecues, picnics and ball games just to name a few. This year my family will be celebrating the 4Th different from in the past.

Our daughters and their friends will join us for a barbecue in the afternoon. As they each leave for their own planned activities for the evening, my dh and I will sit out on the porch, watch the neighbors fireworks and enjoy the company of each other. We have never celebrated the 4Th of July together alone and we are looking forward to it.

Many people in many countries do not get to celebrate this kind of freedom. They are told what to wear, where to go to school, where to live, who to worship. We take that all for granted in the land of plenty. Yes this country is having it's share of problems right now but we still have our freedom and I thank every military personal who fought to give us that freedom we take so much for granted - Thank you.

Live as free men, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as servants of God.
1Peter 2:16

We are blessed with the freedom to worship where ever - when ever we want. We don't need to go into a basement some where and secretly worship. Let's go before God and worship Him and thank him for that freedom along with all of the other blessings He has given us. Let's kick up our heals and dance in the streets and worship Him in His Name, in His Honor, and in His Glory.

Dear Heavenly Father,
We have so much to be thankful for and we forget sometimes to stop and thank you and show you our appreciation. Lord we live in a land of freedom, freedom so many others do not have. I pray that those countries will soon be able to experience the same freedom, especially the freedom to worship you where ever - when ever they choose.
Amen

Sitka is 4 years old. He began therapy at about 18mths, but each dog is different. The first and main thing is "lots" of obedience training (strick), then there is exposure to loud noises, wheel chairs, and anything strange you can think of, b/c they can NOT flip out in a hospital when a fire alarm goes off...a code blue happens and people are flying around, the IV pole falls over..you get the picture. They also need to be friendly with other dogs, as well as excellent tempered with people. Once you have completed training you can test with Delta, Therapy Dogs International, and/or several other organizations.
The biggest two factors are temperment with other dogs and people and OBEDIENCE!
Let me know if I can help you in any way!
Blessings, andrea

Loved your interview on Sneaky Momma's blog. I'm dying to hear how you felt the next day when you went back to work.

If it helps any, my skirt fell off when I was 21 and singing and dancing in a play. I am not sure who was more horrified, me or the audience, lol! (BTW, did I mention it was a church play?).
