Ouch!

I would like to thank everyone for stopping by yesterday during my special SITS day. I had a great time and I hope you did too.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

As with a lot of teens dd15 has problems with acne. She is currently under the supervision of a dermatologist. The first time around the doctor put her on Retinae. We knew she could not have her eyebrows waxed until she was off of the treatment for six months.

Fast forward, she had been off the Retinae for 6+ months and had her eyebrows waxed with no problem. Over the last few months she went back onto the acne treatment this time using Differin (a topical cream). I point out asked the doctor if this was the same as the Retinae or can she still wax. I was told there was not problem with waxing.

Yesterday dd15 exercised some of her independence and went and had her eyebrows waxed with horrible results. Her eyes were bright red and as I looked closer - she was missing skin! The skin had been pulled off in a strip the length of her eye - above both eyes. The hairdresser felt terrible. He asked if she was on acne treatment and we said yet but the doctor ok'd waxing.

I got on line to research the product a little more, click here to see what I found; under precautions it states "avoid waxing". So if you're currently using a
retinoid form of acne treatment - DON'T WAX, we were mislead.

Kuddos to dd15, she got up today and went to cheer practice and work today looking like she was wearing very red eye shadow. When the comment was made, "bet you won't go back there", she said "oh, I'll go back, it wasn't his fault." What a sport.

Oh yeah, what I didn't tell you about that "good sport" is that while the hairdresser was washing my hair she was snuggled into my arm pit crying and having me blow on her eyes.

YEEEEE-Ouch! Bless her heart. But what a trooper!! I've only had my eyebrows waxed...once... and it was quite frightening for me, I can't imagine...enduring an injury like that.
Happy Sits Day yesterday. I'm sorry I didn't stop by sooner to congratulate you on your Sits wonderfulness..

Poor thing! I have had that happen too, but it was because the wax was too hot and it burned my lids. Hurts!! How proud you must be to have her going out and being so brave!! Stopping in from SITS!

Bless her heart! I am so sorry to hear about that. I haven't ever tried waxing. I'm too chicken.
I am behind on my SITS but I gather from this post that you had your day in the spotlight. I hope it was fun!

Oh my gosh, the poor DD!! Mom always soothes the ouchies!! Good sport or not, time to switch dermatology MDs or at least inform the MD staff of the outcome of their ok-ing the waxing on DD!!

While I support the SITS, if I jumped in I would never get off the computer :(

Oh My Goodness! Poor thing. I personally would never trust that Doctor again... lol... but that's me. She seems to have a kind and forgiving heart.

If a acne treatment does that to your face... honestly...it's not healthy to use. I read the website. *shivers* I will always have that brand implanted in my head. I will never use it.

Is she feeling better? I pray she is. That had to be painful. =(

Owie! Poor girl! But she's got a lot of class, too. Like her momma, no doubt. :)
